< Reading about Kleinian Ideas >

This first section is particularly meant for those new to the work. Segal뭩 introductions to Klein뭩 works are classics, but for those requiring a complete introduction written in non-technical language, the Salzburger-Wittenberg text is very readable. It was originally intended for social workers seeking to deepen their understanding of the worker-client relationship.

Hinshelwood뭩 Clinical Klein, (reviewed elsewhere on this website) presents vignettes of Klein뭩 own clinical work in an explanatory, accessible way. His co-authored book presents the ideas in an intriguing way through pictures and text. The 1959 Klein paper is a late one, written for the lay public, and is easier reading for a newcomer than some of her other work.

The Institute of Psychoanalysis, London. Adult psychoanalytic training: Contributions from Kleinian psychoanalysts

What follows is the outline of a course of seminars run internally for students at the Institute of Psychoanalysis in London. The website editors thought the reading list would be of interest for visitors wanting more detailed suggestions for reading around key topics. The reading focuses on the work of Klein뭩 successors, with reference back to relevant parts of Klein뭩 own work.

Seminar Leaders: Richard Rusbridger and Jane Milton
These seminars aimed to give an introduction to a broad range of Kleinian/ post-Kleinian ideas. Each evening was based around a key topic. In each case we looked at the work of several clinicians who have helped to develop the ideas, concentrating particularly on their clinical applications. We took as read each time the 몉ecommended reading? The additional reading includes original papers by Klein or her close collaborators relevant to the topic of the seminar.
